The elephant in the room
Who can ignore such an animal; its majestic presents can be felt by any person in a room. However there would be people who would choose not to see this elephant.
In life we see things that are wrong, but we choose to ignore them. In fact we act as if we don’t see them yet they are so transparent. We like convincing in ourselves that they don’t concern us and that we need to mind our own businesses and should not be concerned by what is out there. If we had all chosen the mentality of ignoring the Elephant in the room, the world would in a more chaotic stage than it is now.
People like Nelson Mandela, Steven Bantu Biko, Mother Theresa and many more, decided not to ignore the elephant in their life time, theydecided to scream “Elephant in the room”, while others still ignored what was so apparent in their eyes. We see things in our everyday lives, but chose to look the other way. We smell bad smells, but we stay with the notion that they won’t affect our health. We are terrified to be the one pointing out what is awkward in our surrounding with the fear of being castrated by our societies.
Brave men and women decide to do something in their own life times, they didn’t pretend as if nothing was going on. They knew it would have treacherous effects; however they were willing to risk their flesh for what they believed to be true in their hearts. The struggling for justice should still continue, because the elephant in the room is still in our surroundings. Children are being abused in our neighbourhoods women beaten by their partners, high levels of crimes, yet we ignore all these things. Saying they are out of our reach.
